Age of the Geek

Zack is an unpopular schoolboy with braces, spots, and asthma – Oh, and he’s also very dead. Zack’s body was found in the park next to a suicide note, but things didn’t seem to add up.

Eli, an enthusiastic young journalist, gets a hold of the story and won’t let go until she finds out the truth. She goes undercover at the school where she meets Zack’s best friend Leo, a geek who’s residing at the bottom of the social food chain, and struggling to survive without Zack.

Everyone is a suspect as Eli and Leo fight together to find Zack’s murderer in Age of the Geek, a new musical filled with laughter, emotion, and mystery. The heroes unravel the story of the untimely death of a teenage boy, and find out which is more dangerous - hunting a killer, or being a geek in school!

Written, produced, and directed by Elliot Alldridge, with music, musical direction, and dramaturgy by Ryan Mellish, Age of the Geek's 2018 production at the Selwyn Samuel Centre received 5 stars from the West Wales Chronicle, praising how the show was 'a laugh out loud production as well as extremely poignant in parts.'

A cast album unfortunately wasn't recorded, but here are some demos featuring Ryan's angelic voice.

The Prologue sees Zack welcome the audience to the show and explain the unfortunate mortal situation he's found himself in.

When Eli is sent undercover to investigate his death, she meets Leo in the midst of him Daydreaming about all things geeky, which the pair bond over.

They're then interrupted by Ms Finster's unexpected tirade on The Things in Your Mind.

Later in the show, Zack manages to make contact from beyond the grave with Leo with an urgent message in When I Was Alive.

After Eli's identity becomes known to Leo, he's determined to help her investigation and for the pair to become Partners in Crime.
